The Omni Dallas Hotel implemented a new rotational internship program this last summer, and I had the opportunity to be on their first intern team.
The interns work as pool attendants and servers throughout the summer. Their job is to deliver prompt and courteous service ensuring the guest's needs are met with a smile.
Throughout the summer program, the interns rotate once a week to another department of the hotel. Some of these departments include food and beverage, human resources, accounting, housekeeping, sales and marketing, and much more.
Here the interns will shadow different associates and will be educated on the different positions and responsibilities of the department. Questions are encouraged and will be answered promptly and accurately. This is to educate the interns on the magic behind such a large hotel and how everything comes together.
The shadowing allows the interns to have insight on what different types of opportunities are available within the hotel and hopefully provide them with direction when contemplating future career plans.
